How To Hang Your Metal Art

Hanging custom metal signs can be accomplished using a variety of methods, depending on the sign's size, weight, and the surface where it will be displayed. Here’s a guide to five popular methods:

1. Nails or Screws: This method provides a secure hold for heavier or larger signs, ideal for outdoor settings or on surfaces where weight distribution is a concern. Begin by marking the points on the wall where the nails or screws will go, ensuring they align with any pre-drilled holes (please note that not all of our signs have pre-drilled holes in order to have a cleaner design) in the sign. Use a level to ensure your sign will hang straight. Drill pilot holes into the marked spots, then secure the sign with nails or screws. This method is durable and can withstand various environmental factors.

2. Double-Sided Tape: For lighter signs and temporary displays, double-sided tape offers a quick and easy solution. Choose a high-quality, heavy-duty tape designed for use with metal and the specific surface on which you'll mount the sign. Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure good adhesion, then apply the tape to the back of the sign. Remove the protective backing and press the sign firmly against the wall for about 30 seconds to secure it.

3. Mounting Magnets: Mounting with magnets is an excellent choice for displaying signs on metal surfaces or when you prefer a damage-free option. Attach strong, rare-earth magnets to the corners of the sign. Then, simply place the sign against the metal surface. This method allows for easy removal and adjustment.

4. Monkey Hooks: Monkey hooks are a great tool for hanging signs without the need for tools or significant wall damage. Simply push the curved end of the hook through the drywall and twist it to lock it in place. Hang your sign on the protruding hook. This method is best for indoor signs on drywall and is incredibly simple and effective for lighter signs.

5. Glue or Other Adhesives: For a permanent installation, particularly on uneven surfaces where nails and screws might not be feasible, industrial-strength glues or adhesives can be used. Ensure both the sign and the surface are clean and dry. Apply the adhesive to the back of the sign according to the manufacturer's instructions, then press the sign onto the surface. Hold it in place according to the adhesive’s setting time to ensure a strong bond.

Each method has its advantages, so consider the location, sign material, and permanence of the display when choosing your hanging method.
